Save Time and Money with EnduroShield Shower Screen Protector and Coating
Stan Bond offers EnduroShield coating on all Shower Screen products to help reduce cleaning time. EnduroShield is an Easy Clean coating applied to the inside surface of shower screen glass and acts as a shield. The coating bonds to the glass and helps protect it against dirt, grime and soap scum, from staining, etching or discolouring the surface.
EnduroShield repels both water (hydrophobic) and oil (oleophobic) leaving an easy to clean surface that is very similar to a non-stick fry pan. The coating is also completely invisible and does not change the look or finish of the surface.
This means you clean less often with less effort, and the surface won’t deteriorate over its life as untreated surfaces do. EnduroShield glass treatment has been proven to reduce cleaning time by up to 90%, providing long-lasting protection on shower glass and other glass surfaces.
You also don’t have to purchase a specific aftercare product to extend the life of EnduroShield, saving you time and money while keeping your glass surfaces looking as good as the day they were treated. The warranty ensures that the protective coating maintains its effectiveness for years.
MAINTAINING THE COATED SURFACE
GLASS SHOWER SCREENS
To keep your glass shower door looking new, the glass needs to be cleaned each week using a damp microfibre cloth and a mild detergent (such as washing-up liquid) to remove any soap scum, dirt, or grime from the glass.
Wiping the glass down with a squeegee helps to keep the glass free of spots between cleans. Good brands include Ettore and Pulex. Regular maintenance ensures the protective coating continues to repel water effectively, maintaining clarity and ease of cleaning.
WHAT TO AVOID
Be careful not to use any rough, gritty, highly acidic, alkaline, or abrasive cleaners such as Comet (powder), Ajax, or cerium oxide, as they may damage the protective coating. Cleaners like this damage or polish back the actual substrate of the surface, reducing its ability to repel water and protect against soap scum.
ACCEPTABLE CLEANING PRODUCTS
From time to time people want to know examples of cleaners that they can use on their treated surface, over the suggested maintenance. EnduroShield is very robust. In fact, there is no solvent that can remove the coating but as listed above there are some product types that should be avoided.
Accelerated testing undertaken to simulate 10 years of cleaning was undertaken using 5 of the top-selling cleaning brands in the US, showing no detriment to the coating.
Windex
Lysol 4in1 Bathroom Cleaner
Fantastik Orange Action
Green Works Natural Glass & Surface Cleaner (by Clorox)
Clean Shower Daily Shower Cleaner (Arm & Hammer)
Although these cleaners can be used, EnduroShield is designed to be an ‘Easy Clean coating’ that requires only mild soaps that do not contain harsh or toxic chemicals to maintain the surface effectively. It should be noted that with any cleaner used on the EnduroShield surface a thorough rinse with clean water should follow immediately.
Glass Surfaces Maintenance
EnduroShield is not just limited to shower screens; it can also be applied to windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces. The protective coating provides an effective barrier against grime and reduces scrubbing efforts, saving valuable time in maintaining a clean look.
Cleaning Shower Glass Effectively
To maintain your shower glass in top condition, regularly wiping it down with a damp microfibre cloth can help prevent soap scum build-up. Using a particular product designed for EnduroShield-treated surfaces ensures long-term effectiveness.
Dealing with Soap Scum and Hard Water
South Australia has quite hard water with a higher concentration of mineral deposits than other states. A lime and calcium build-up may occur on the protective coating and may not be easily removed with a mild detergent. A solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 5 parts water) should be sprayed onto the glass and allowed to soak for several minutes. This will dissolve any mineral deposits that have built up on the glass surface. A damp microfibre cloth should then be used to wipe over the glass.
Tip for Extreme Hard Water Conditions
Around the world, some unique locations have extremely harsh conditions. In these environments, EnduroShield is a great choice. If you didn’t have the EnduroShield protection, your glass may have to be restored or even replaced. In some cases, this staining can occur in under 1 year. Cities such as New Orleans, Louisiana, and Perth, Western Australia, have very high mineral concentrations.
Being robust, the EnduroShield coating allows you to have great-looking glass, but it requires more effort in these specific environmental conditions. Minerals prevalent in the water can still build up over time, forming deposits on the EnduroShield coating. We recommend using the vinegar/water solution every week or so to reduce this build-up on the surface rather than allowing it to accumulate over a long period.
