Stan Bond’s 3M Thinsulate Climate Control Window Film is an efficient, cost-effective way to increase the insulation performance of your home’s windows.
3M Thinsulate Climate Control Window Film is a low emissivity or “low-e” window film that uses the latest technology to retain warmth in winter and cool air in summer – keeping the weather out where it belongs – all season, every season.
By reducing cold/hot spots, it helps you to live comfortably and increases your building’s energy efficiency. Up to 30% of all energy used to heat and cool homes in Australia escapes through the windows. Much of this energy loss is through the effect of conduction occurring between the cold outside air and warm inside air during winter time. In the summertime, the opposite occurs, where the house is warmed by the reverse effect.
3M Thinsulate Window Film can help keep the home comfortable all year long. The unique low-e window film uses embedded gold and silver particles to increase your windows’ insulation value – called the ‘U Value’. With Thinsulate applied, a single-pane performs close to a double-pane, a double-pane performs close to a triple-pane.
Virtually invisible, the look of your window barely changes, inside or out. Yet it still helps protect furniture, floors, upholstery and artwork from UV rays that cause fading. Easier and more affordable than replacing your windows, 3M Thinsulate Window Film is an efficient, cost-effective way to meet your window insulation needs.
The 3M Thinsulate Climate Control Window Film is perfect for areas such as the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley, where the cold temperatures of winter draw out the heat in a home through the windows. Heavy curtains, Roller Shutters or Honeycomb Cellular blinds help to reduce this loss but require the window to covered which can be disappointing on a beautiful clear winter’s morning. One customer in Stirling remarked it’s ‘like putting an invisible pink batt on your window’.
Stan Bond offers a great range of energy efficient products to help improve the comfort inside your home. Explore 3M’s amazing products and so many more options at our display centre. Or call and arrange for one of our consultants to meet with you onsite to find the right solution for you.
3M Thinsulate Window Film is new to Australia, bringing the advantages of low-e film without the strong ‘gold hue’ found on competitor products. 3M’s micro-layering system uses refraction and reflection technology to allow natural light waves through the film, whilst reflecting the heat waves back into the home. This means the film is virtually invisible when installed and doesn’t significantly darken your room.
3M Thinsulate Window Film is perfect for living areas, where keeping the blinds closed all winter is undesirable. Many customers will compare the improvement of Thinsulate versus double glazing the window. Using the technical data, it can be shown that Thinsulate is 73% as effective at reducing energy transfer as a standard double glazed unit.

Thin as paper, it was a surprise when this climate control film managed to reduce hot spots in my office without blocking the view. I was so happy Stan Bond suggested this when I told them I didn’t want my glass walls and windows tinted too dark that I wouldn’t be able to see the outdoors. I am very happy with the result and I really appreciate your hard work guys.
